This website was a stepping stone towards an upcoming brand refresh which would include parts of the iridescent color scheme and illustrative visual style. The concept for the website was to show the magical-like experience of self-driving and the freedom it brings in an otherwise mundane rush hour experience.
I started by creating the traffic in an isometric perspective using only outlines to create a minimalistic style. Imagery of the usual traffic suspects included motor homes, buses, camping trailers and cyclists.
To convey the magical experience of self-driving, I created a cloud of images including unicorns, sheep jumping over the moon, fast food, and stars, all trailing from the car equipped with self-driving. I then applied a bright, fun gradient to the cloud to make it stand out from the everyday traffic imagery and come alive.
Larger spot illustrations were created in the same style as the hero, but treated slightly differently. With these I created an iridescent fill layer offset from the outlines to add more depth on the lighter background.
